Spring Clean Shopping Trip

This week, we are looking to help spring clean your old Interior design choices and have your homes set for Spring and Summer.

We all love a weekend away with our girlfriends and partners, so with spring fast approaching it's a great opportunity to book a sumptuous boutique hotel room and spa and use it as the time to give your homes a treat to.

Things to shop for:

1,Welcome or Door mats, these are easy ways to set a scene.  Whether your creating a seasonal look or just want to create the vision of what's to come from entering your home.  It's important to replace worn or out of date mats.

2,Nothing says you care more then having matching cutlery and dinner sets. Remove any chipped crockery and odd cutlery items from your cupboards. Your dinner guests will thank you.  Remember what statement your looking to achieve.

3,Tablescapes: Your winter or Christmas dining tables dressings have been packed away & your table is looking bare? With Easter just around the corner, maybe go with a theme or dress with fresh spring hues or Flowers.

4, Window dressing. Curtains and Drapes are a staple in any room and as your spring cleaning it's worth taking down your heavy curtains and taking them to the dry cleaners ready for winter & replace with a summer look. If you have blinds or shutters, these will need a spring clean to.  Hygiene is important for your Wellness.

5, Change over your winter duvet to ensure a comfortable night's sleep once the warmer nights come.

6, Has your towels lost there plumpness? Then delegate your old towels to the boot room for your pets.

7, Soap bars or soap dispensers, again this is a Hygiene point.  Top up or replace.

8, Pets bedding, I'd opt for a wicker basket or a fabric bed, that can easily be cleaned.  It will depend where it is placed, let's just say "Doggy whiff's are not attractive to creating an atmosphere that is welcoming and homely. Throw away old dog toys to.

Oh and remember to treat yourself to, perhaps a new outfit or new shoes so that when you're home looks incredible, so will you at your next dinner party.

Next Week, we are going to explore homes of the future 2036

A Blog about Blogs

I started this blog back in February, and every week without fail I've shared a blog a week.  It was in the hope that other interior designers, students or home interior lovers found it of use and I thought it would be a great time coming up to the half year point to stop and reflect.  Reflect on what's working, what do you want to read more about or indeed, what I have yet to explore.  As a business owner or freelancer building a following can & does take time & effort and as Country Interior Design by MJ is coming up to our 6 month review it's poignant to pause and check in with ourselves & you the most important aspect as to why we are doing this.  We have been sharing content of inspiration on Facebook and Instagram from the start with a clear weekly schedule: Mondays  Devine or Decadence  Tuesday  History of interior design  Wednesday  Feb 26: Room of Ferial August 26: Shine a light Thursday  Colour Psychology  Frid...

Holiday inspiration for your next interior design project.

This blog is how you could use your holiday as a way of inspiring your next interior design project & on our SM pages recently we had a focus on the Great British Holiday, go take a look at Country Interior Design by MJ Facebook & Instagram accounts to learn more. Each Seaside area of the UK, gives a different feel, be it Blackpool, whereby the bright lights and the Pleasure Beach dominates or right down to the most Southernly tip of Cornwall, whereby a more subtle, relaxed vibe is encapsulated?  I've been working on an interior design project for my portfolio and I read a great book: The English Seaside by Peter Williams. It's a great source of inspiration for a Seaside Interior design style. Whether your looking for a Retro Seaside makeover from yesteryear or you want to recreate your wonderful holiday memories in your home, in a more subtle way? The landscape of a typical resort has changed immensely over the years, however some things remain and can help you with va...
